in 1992 when she was just graduating from high school Amanda Bossard started her education in marine biology at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage, Alaska. Bossard started her commercial fishing career in 1999, when she began working on the vessel F/V Sunset. This 65' schooner, which was transformed into the role of a salmon tender is operated by Murat Aritan. Aritan has been involved in commercial fishing since 1993. Bossard married Aritan in 1999. The couple have teamed up to fight for their business. They support conservative and profitable renewable seafood resource management. Otolith launched its direct market wholesale distributor in Philadelphia in the year Bossard came back from her home in her home town with two daughters, Bella 3 years old and Andre 1, to Philadelphia. Her husband and she are separated by 5 months and she is able to concentrate on her financial goals and environmental concerns. Bossard's daughters Isabella aged 12 and son Andre, age 10, come back each year each year to Southeast Alaska to work in the deckhand position throughout the salmon wild season.
